Kurtág's ...concertante... conquers Carnegie Hall

...concertante... was written in 2003 at the commission of the Léonie Sonning Foundation and was awarded the Grawemayer prize in 2006. In the last twenty years, it has been performed dozens of times on several continents. The unusual form in Kurtág's oeuvre, reminiscent of a monumetal symphonic poem, is now being presented to the New York audience by The Orchestra Now, conducted by Leon Botstein. Solo parts will be performed by Luosha Fang (violin) and Rosemary Nelis (viola), both former students of Bard College. The New York concert will be preceded by two more performances in the concert hall of Bard College, one of which will feature Hiromi Kikuchi and Ken Hakii, the soloists of all previous performances, who also took a role in training the young performers.
