Fin de partie – Wiener Staatsoper

Fin de partie – Wiener Staatsoper

György Kurtág's opera based on Samuel Beckett's text has had 32 stage and concert performances in 8 countries so far. The work arrived at another venue on its international journey: in October, it will be performed five times on the stage of the Vienna State Opera House.

Herbert Fritsch's direction is the third new stage interpretation after Pierre Audi's performances in Milan in 2018 (then in Amsterdam, Valencia, Paris) and Ingo Kerkhof's performances in Dortmund in 2024.

In Vienna, the casting is also new: the role of Hamm is played by Philippe Sly, the role of Clov by Georg Nigl, and the role of Nagg by Charles Workman. Previous performers of the work are represented by Hilary Summers, who sings the role of Nell also in Vienna.

The performances are conducted by Simone Young.

The premiere on October 16 is also preceded by a public rehearsal for young people under the age of 27.
